Frequently asked questions
Paediatric OT helps children develop the skills they need for everyday activities — including play, learning, emotional regulation, motor skills, social connection, and independence. We support children by understanding their sensory needs, developmental profile, and the way they naturally engage with the world.
Families often seek OT support when they notice challenges with:
Sensory processing (e.g. sensitivities, seeking behaviours, avoidance)
Big emotions or difficulty self-regulating
Motor skills, coordination, handwriting or balance
Social interaction or play skills
Transitions, routines, or completing daily tasks
Focus, attention or classroom participation
School readiness
If you’re unsure, we can discuss your child’s needs during an initial consultation.
Yes. Our practice is neurodiversity-affirming, meaning we support children as they are — not to “fix” them. We work with autistic children, ADHDers, PDA profiles, sensory processing differences, and other developmental profiles with respect, understanding, and evidence-informed care.
Your first session includes:
A warm, relaxed conversation about your child
Observing how your child engages and plays
Understanding their strengths, interests, and challenges
Discussing goals together with you This session helps us decide how best to support your child moving forward.
Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes, depending on your child’s age, needs, and regulation.
This varies for every child. Some attend weekly, others fortnightly or monthly. After the initial session, we’ll create a plan together that suits your child and your family.
